You may be able to tell that my blog is in the midst of directing itself toward a new theme...Fashion. Well, fashion doesn't matter if you don't have style. The two go hand in hand, even if they are sometimes difficult to separate from each other.
So why do I bring up style? Well, thanks for asking.
Failing to turn off your cell phone during a rather important meeting (with rather important people) is rude, and rude people are not stylish. Period. It is 2010--cell phones have been around for a fairly long time. And even before that, there were pagers. . . even the lowest level intern can understand the importance of putting your cell phone on silent.
Phone etiquette has been a topic for a while now. Yet people are failing to get the message. Why are people so rude with their phones? I feel like people lack phone etiquette all over the country (perhaps the world), but in this city, it's much worse. Men and women text during meetings and lunch dates, heck--i've even had first dates spend more time emailing and texting on their phone than talking to me (perhaps I need to work on being more exciting). Sure, there are certain situations when texting is necessary, but most of the time whatever "crucial" conversation you are having can wait.
Recap...in case you missed my point...Allowing your phone to ring during a meeting is rude, obnoxious, and embarrassing for those around you. Oh, and while I am on the subject--vibrating phones are awkward (I'm sure I don't need to explain)...silent is probably best.
Because I don't feel like covering all of the details of proper phone etiquette, check out this blog: The Retiring Guy's Digest
Let's just all show a teensy bit of respect.
