Jazz in the Garden

There is nothing better than sitting shoulder to shoulder with friends on the lawn of the Sculpture Garden at the National Gallery of Art with a glass of Sangria in your hand and jazz music in the air. That, my friends, is exactly what Jazz in the Garden is all about. Bring friends, a blanket, and a bottle of wine (i'm not sure if that part is legal--but everyone does it) and enjoy the warm summer air. Starting May 28th, this "event" takes place every Friday from 4pm until 8pm and is completely free...that's right, no ticket needed to listen to the great Jazz. My favorite part about Jazz in the Garden is the wide array of people. Fashion statements are made from one end of the garden to the other.

While we are on the topic--visit the National Art Gallery...it's free and pretty awesome. I suggest going alone because everyone strolls through museums at their own pace and sometimes friends can be distracting. Bring a good book and find a seat somewhere in the gallery. No one will bug you and you can people watch for as long as you want.

I'm currently reading Persuasion by Jane Austen
