Spring to Summer?

**Please note, this post was written on July 15.**

There's this terrifying assumption that people in key leadership positions are omnipotent on some level. How else would they have gained their seat at the front of the line? As conflict continues to spread in the middle east citizens of the world have gained a stronger insight into what has really been going on throughout the world over the past three decades. It appears as though dozens of leaders throughout the globe have been trying to hold strong to the mentality that sometimes it is just best to "fake it til you make it." When looking at Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, and hopefully Syria, it is easy to see that the citizens have figured out that they ultimately hold the upper hand, proving that they have the power to oust harsh leaders.

The real challenge is to replace those leaders with highly qualified, trust worthy leaders who will enhance their states. History has shown us that replacing one leaders for another does not always favor the general population. Rhetoric often screeches louder than qualifications, resulting in a disappointed public who is all but willing to return to their former dictators. One can only hope that the Arab spring will turn into summer...but if the new leaders (once they are chosen) fail to meet the standards of the self-empowered people of their countries, then chances are that summer may turn into fall and move back toward an icy winter.
